I realize it has been a while since I last blogged. My last entry was about making pillowcase dresses for little girls in Haiti, and my rather lofty hopes to help fund and supply a sewing school in Haiti. Well, I have made a few more dresses and intend to make many others. I admit, I have gotten distracted by other sewing projects, but making these dresses is still very much on my heart and mind. I last blogged about how I had hoped to help a friend with many ties to Haiti establish a sewing school there, but that appears to have fallen through, at least at present. I am currently looking into other established ministries there to see how best I can help. My family has been supporting, in a small way, the organization World Vision’s efforts to get sewing machines and supplies into the hands of women who will use them to support themselves. However, I still feel a deep desire to become involved in a more personal, hands-on way, in getting sewing supplies to women in Haiti, and helping them to help themselves.
So, that’s it. I’ll keep you posted as things become clearer, and let you know of opportunities, should this become something you’d like to get involved in. I apologize for the continued vagueness; I had really thought I’d have had something a little more concrete in place by now.
